Article on Ethiopia adoption from BBC

I sent what is hopefully our last piece of paper to be authenticated by the Secretary of State's office. We are still waiting for our home study to be completed which should be done this week. Once the home study is done, we will submit both our Citizen and Immigration Services paperwork and our dossier to the Ethiopian embassy in Washington, D.C. The embassy then authenticates the dossier and sends it to Ethiopia and then we get a referral!!

We are attending a meeting with Dr. Tsegaye next week. The details are below:

The Ethiopia Team wanted to update you about an upcoming visit from our representative Dr. Tsegaye, who will be traveling to Boston with two members of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Addis Ababa, Mr. Haddush Halefom and Ms. Atsede Guta, in order to visit Wide Horizons For Children and our families. They are scheduled to arrive on August 14th and will be joined by a third official from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Dr. Bulti Gutema on August 17th.

While they are here, we have planned a reception for them on the 20th of August from 12 - 4 pm at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, located at 41 Second Street in Cambridge, MA, www.cmacusa.org. We are inviting all families who have adopted from Ethiopia as well as those currently in process to attend this event. Staff members are also welcome to join us!

Social workers, please share this information with your families- it is a great opportunity for families in process to meet Dr. Tsegaye and other Ethiopia program families. In addition, it is also important for the officials from MOLSA to see how well Ethiopian children are doing in their adoptive families in order to promote adoptions and ensure the continuance of this incredible program.

There will be Ethiopian snacks and drinks available free of charge.
