First Home Study interview
We had our first home study interview with Sarah, our social worker. The meeting was at the home study agency's office, St. Andre's in Biddeford. It lasted for about an hour. Sarah asked us alot of questions about how we decided to adopt, why we decided on Ethiopia, how we picked our agency, etc. We were also asked what medical conditions we would accept in a child and which we wouldn't. There is actually a list and we have to check off which are most acceptable, somewhat acceptable and least acceptable. More issues to discuss and decide.
We have two follow up visits which will last for 2-3 hours each. Both of these will be at our house. After that Sarah will submit a draft of her homestudy to WHFC for their review. Then she will complete the homestudy and we can submit that to WHFC and begin the dossier process which is gathering the information that the Ethiopian government requires. We can also then submit our Citizen and Immigration Services paperwork for a visa for the baby and we have to be finger printed by the FBI!
