Home Study Dates Set
The social worker, Sarah, called today to set up our home study interviews. We meet the following dates:
Thursday, July 7 at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, July 12 at 10 a.m.
Monday, July 25 at 10 a.m.
The visit on the 25th will be at our house and will include Gracie (who is very anxious to be included).
Sarah said that it would take her about two weeks to complete the writing of the home study once we had our three visits and assuming we can get our letter of references and medical information to her by the 25th.
So it looks like it will take 5 weeks from start to finish which is incredibly fast. We had been told it would take 3 months or so and are thrilled things are moving so quickly. After the home study, we have the following steps:
1. Immigration approval and fingerprinting and
2. Dossier for Ethiopian Government which includes medical certificates; financial statements; reasons for adopting an Ethiopian child; photos of us and our house; obligations of post placements; birth and marriage certificates; local police clearance; two letters of reference, etc.
3. various other minor paperwork such as certification of health insurance coverage, certification of employment, etc.
Part of me is glad that the paperwork is keeping me occupied. Waiting is hard.
Here is an interesting website from another family adopting from Ethiopia.

I can't believe how quickly it's gone! Makes me excited and scared at the same time - not for you, but for us. This is all great, Jen!!
