Great quote

I just finished reading Secret Thoughts of An Adoptive Mother. This book stirs up a bit of controversy on the adoption list serves from time to time. It is brutally honest about one woman's experience with infertility and then with an open, transracial adoption. I thought it was a great read.

On the transracial subject, someone on the list serve posted this quote from Inside Transracial Adopting,

"For anyone who is in fear of the monsters that may be lurking around the corners of adoption, yes, as with anything, there are monsters to be conquered and there is the potential that they could gobble us up, which makes our actions so much more important. But please consider for a moment that as you are reading this, there is a child who is battling very real monsters alone. And imagine that when you make a commitment to take up arms, side by side, with that child, how many unnecessary scars you can, as a family, prevent."
